Baker Victory Services – Pre-application

Colombian adoptions through BAKER VICTORY SERVICES (BVS) http://www.bakervictoryservices.org/ are coordinated in conjunction with FANA with support from Families of FANA.

BVS is a non-profit charitable organization located in Lackawanna, NY, which provides a wide range of services to children, youth, and families in need.  Each year, more than 5,500 children and families of every race, color, and religion receive care from approximately 1,100 full- and part-time staff members in a number of fields, including adoption (both international and domestic). An affiliate of Our Lady of Victory Homes of Charity, BVS is the evolution of the social programs begun in the late 1800s by Father Nelson Henry Baker.

  • Homestudy
  • Post Placement Supervision
  • Summer Magic Program

Ages of Children Available:

Available children range in age from 3 months to 16 years. Infants, toddlers, sibling groups and children with special needs are available. Children are Spanish and Indian in descent.

Parent’s Age/Married:

Couples married for more than three years.

Children from 0-2 yrs (35 months)

Families from 25 to 38 years of age

Children from 3-4 yrs (36 mos to 59 mos)

Families from 39 to 41 years of age

Children from 5-6 yrs (60 mos to 83 mos)

Families from 42 to 44 years of age

Children from 7 yrs and older

Families from 45 to 55 years of age

Singles:

Call for more information.

Divorce:

No restriction

Children in One Family:

No restrictions.

Travel Requirements:

Adoptive parents are required to stay in Colombia for a minimum of one week to begin the process. At least one parent must remain until the final adoption decree. Average stay is 45 days.

Post-Placement Visits:

4 visits required over a period of two years.

Waiting Time:

Approximately 18-24 months from beginning of the process to the end. Individual cases will vary.  Shorter wait for special needs and sibling groups.
